Legal and Operations Executive

Sam Watermeyer (SamW)

My Story

I joined Sanari because I was looking for a new challenge and connected with the team, their passion and work ethic. I also loved the idea of growing my business and investments knowledge with such an accomplished and experienced team.

I look for businesses that are aligned with the principals of good governance and legislative and regulatory compliance – these principals have become the cornerstones of my practice and career focus over the past 8 years, and I have grown to recognise the fundamental underpin to value that these elements play in the ultimate success of any business or team, regardless of industry.

I add value to the Sanari team as well as to the teams we partner with because I am focused on influencing and moulding teams that meet the regulatory, legislative and best practice requirements applicable to them and their operating arena, in a way that does not lose sight of/compromise the ultimate goal/purpose/vision of the business itself. I am also laser focused on bedding down processes that address business deliverables, positively affects efficiency and productivity (so Chief Nagging Officer!)

My passion for what I do comes from my passion for people and for building strong and successful relationships. I am all about supporting individuals in fulfilling their potential. I am also passionate about the English language.

Before I joined Sanari I headed up the first legal compliance team at retail credit provider and insurer, RCS. Before that I practiced as an attorney in Cape Town with Norman, Wink and Stephens Attorneys, Notaries and Conveyancers, where I also completed my articles.

SamW has a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Law and Politics, as well as an LLB from the University of Cape Town. She also obtained her Certificate in Compliance Management in 2013, and was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa, that same year.
