How do you know you can be CEO? How do you know to become an entrepreneur? Most CEOs and entrepreneurs will relate stories of their families or upbringings. Whether or not someone specifically encouraged these individuals to lead or take risks, it is the precedent, role models and dinner table conversations that are often the starting point and the basis of generational wealth.

Generational wealth, not just financial but also market access and handed-down knowledge often sustains status quo and limits the opportunities for individuals not coming from groups privileged with such exposure. How do we bring about real change and diversity across organisations? Build more visible businesses led by black and women CEOs and senior management teams, who in turn set the example for generations to come – this is Sanari’s Entrepreneurship by Acquisition (EBA) Programme.

Building on its existing investment strategy and successes, Sanari Capital has developed a unique approach for increasing black and woman ownership and management, one that draws on the methodology of Search Funds.

What Is EBA?

The sourcing and development of strong executives looking for a more entrepreneurial next step in their careers – to become entrepreneurs and owner-managers of businesses that Sanari acquires (“entrepreneur-candidates”). Focus on black and women executives.
Target businesses may be identified through Sanari’s main fund strategy, or through an entrepreneur-candidate-led search for appropriate companies to acquire, invest in and grow. It is important to source the right type of company (with respect to both growth opportunities and current leadership’s attitude and appetite for transition).
Through EBA, the entrepreneur-candidate invests in the target business alongside Sanari (a management buy-in), on a subsidized and/or facilitated basis.
Sanari plays an integral part not only in sourcing, evaluating and executing the acquisition, but draws on its deep expertise with founder-run, owner-managed and family-owned businesses to help facilitate the integration of new management post-transaction, succession planning and the formulation and execution of the company’s growth strategy.
